Naples - Monday

In the morning we hit the National Archaeological Museum.  It contains all the best stuff from Pompeii as well as a ton of great statues, mosaics and tapistries from ancient Rome.  We were kind of on a time crunch so we did the museum in about 2 hours.  Met up with some Italian coworker for lunch (more mozzarella di  buffalo, and gnocchi).  It was great to eat lunch with some Italians, they were able to help us navigate the menu and steer us towards the best eats, plus ordered some tasty extras for us.  It also was nice to finally meet some people that I have been working with for years, but have never met in person.  Virtual teams are fine most of the time, but nothing can really beat talking in person.

In the afternoon we grabbed a ferry to Capri.  It was a hour 20 minute ride to Capri, but the great thing about the ferry over the Hydrofoil is that you get to sit outside.  Coming into the port at Capri is absolutely beautiful.  It has a lot of cliffs, and some of the houses look like they would fall into the water at anytime.  We walked around the island for about an hour an half, got to see some of the sites but not the famous blue grotto.  Capri is catered to the uber rich and famous.  All the name brands seem to have a store there, Louis Vitton, Burberry, Gucci, Valentino, but once you get away from the main square it is all small villas, clifside views of the ocean and narrow cobblestone street.  On the way back we caught a hydrofoil, so it was only 45 minutes back to Naples.  For dinner we finally got to have some seafood, and I had a baby squid dish, and John had a great shellfish pasta.
