Naples to Rome - Tuesday

We caught a morning train from Naples to Rome.  The trickiest part was finding a ticket machine that would take my US credit card.  Once in Rome, John navigated us and our luggage through the Rome subway to get out to our hotel.  The hotel we stayed at in Rome (Marriott Central Park) was no where near as central as our hotel in Naples (Renaissance Hotel Mediterraneo).  Once again the hotel was paid for by John's Marriott points.  It really helped our budget to have the rooms all taken care of.  So in order to get to our Rome hotel we had to take a subway train, then a commuter train.  Overall it was about a half an hour or so trip from central Rome to our hotel, not bad, but not great.

In the afternoon we took a best of Rome walking tour.  It really was great because we got to see a lot of great sites, but also were able to get ourselves kind of acquainted with the city.  We hit the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain, and the Pantheon (although not the inside).  It was a lot of walking, but a lot of the sites in Rome really are not that far apart from each other once you get to a central Rome location.  Afterwards we did a bit more walking on our own and then went to dinner at a cafe close by the Trevi fountain that was suggested by a friend who studied abroad in Rome.  L'archetto, the cafe, had wonderful pasta, and bruschetta, and best of all, it was also a great price.
